What Pastoral Presence Can We Offer a Person with Dementia?

Location: Holy Family Catholic Church. Cnr Canning Highway and Thelma, Como (Entrance Azalea Lane, off Thelma St). Ample free parking.

Cost: Members FREE; Non-members $35;
Current CPE participants and recent graduates may be eligible for free entry.


Refreshments will be provided.

What to expect?
Understanding dementia is essential if we are support family and clients living with this condition. This interactive workshop will  explore types of dementia, signs and symptoms of the disease, as well as how we may offer an attentive presence while tending to aspects of spirituality.

Presenter: Peta Geneste
Peta is a Pastoral Practitioner at St. John of God Subiaco Hospital, having previously worked in aged care. She holds a degree in psychology, a Graduate Diploma in Education, as well as qualifications in dementia care through Alzheimer’s WA.  Peta has previously provided support and training to staff at nursing homes.

The professional development event will be followed by the ACPEWA AGM at 11am.
